Here We Go: Filing Window Open for Many Businesses

Monday, February 4, 2013 - 07:00

Many businesses are now able to file their 2012 federal income tax returns. The February 4 opening covers non-1040 series business returns, including Form 1120 (corporations), Form 1065 (partnerships), Form 990 (exempt organizations), form 1120S (S corporations), and most users of Form 720 (quarterly excise tax return).

While many businesses can now file, there is still the question of whether or not they should. As we are still waiting on guidance on a great many issues, we’re recommending to most of our clients that they wait as long as possible, and in some cases file an extension, until we have a better idea of what coming tax years will look like.
